How energy-efficient is your home?

It's a little warmer this week than it has been so far in December, but it's still chilly enough to want to stay cozy inside. But just how cozy is your home?

My Heat - a company located in Kensington - makes it easy to get a birds' eye view of your home and see if it's a superpower or a dud when it comes to retaining heat.

Simply go to the Calgary part of the site  then click 'Search' in the top right. Type in your address and you will see your home.

At a glance, you can see the colour of your home. If it's a cooler colour, that means it's retaining more heat. If it's orange or red, it's losing heat (not great news for you when you open that energy bill each month).

Overall, Killarney is not doing so well - we rate about a 9 out of 10 (where 1 is excellent and 10 is not good at all).

The site offers handy (sponsored) ways to improve your home's energy efficiency - from insulation, to smart thermostats - and ways to mitigate the cost - by bundling services with an energy provider.

It's pretty compelling to look at your house and the ones around you and realise that some newer homes are just not performing that well.

We encourage you to take a look and take action - more efficient homes means lower bills and less wasted energy. It's a win-win.
